Biography of Annette Obrestad

Annette Obrestad is widely known for her alias Annette_15. She began playing at 15 years of age and that makes her one of the youngest successful poker30 professionals. Annette was born in Sandness, Norway on September 18, 1988. At a very young age she was taught Stud poker by her father and soon became the one to beat in the tournaments at home.

She felt very confident that she could launch out in the greater world of poker so she asked her mother’s permission to open a poker account online using her credit card. Fearing that her young daughter was becoming too involved in the gambling habit, her mother refused.

This wouldn’t serve as a deterrent to Annette as she persisted in pursuing her goal. She participated in many freeroll tournaments from which she built her bankroll. She proved herself after winning some freerolls. She earned hundreds of thousands of dollars while still high school just by playing in online poker tournaments. It is said that she became such a good player that she didn’t have to look at hole cards. A story is being told that in one online tournament Annette placed tape over the monitor of her computer to prevent her from seeing her own hand. Through bluffing and reading her opponents she went on to win the tournament.

By 2006 Annette stamped hr dominance in the world of online poker. She was successful in many $100 buy-in tournaments that were done on notable online poker sites Full Tilt and PokerStars. She would win about $10,000 to $20,000 in every event allowing her the opportunity to build a bankroll worthy of competing at the highest level.

She competed in the Aruba Classics and some EPT events but her age prevented her from travelling to Las Vegas to compete in the World Series of Poker. With the inaugural World Series of Poker in Europe in 2007, Annette had a chance to present herself to the greatest in poker. She participated in Pot-Limit Omaha but it was her participation in the Main Event that she really began to shine. By Day 3 of the tournament she was able to eliminate Jennifer Harman and Annie Duke, two other leading female poker players. Annette progressed in the tournament and eventually made it to the final table.

She went to win £1,000,000 in the tournament and securing her place in history by becoming the youngest holder of a WSOP bracelet and also has the largest score ever for a female player. Two months after she participated in the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Dublin event and won second place. She won €297,800 for her efforts.

Earlier in 2010 she appeared in the 2010 Aussie Millions where she became the Event 4 champion. She earned $40,000 for winning that event.

Annette was signed to Betfair Poker shortly after winning the WSOPE tournament. Earlier this year she made more news when she signed with Full Tilt Poker, one of the most popular and successful online poker sites.
